The MobileMuse.ca Citizenship team led by At Large Media looked at ways to engage mobile users in the social and political issues that effect everyday life. After partnering with “Check Your Head�?, the team worked with MobileMuse.ca and Western Economic Diversification in May 2005 to find ways to engage youth in the issues that affect everyday life; politics, social, environmental, and issues that affect different cultural communities. The project “Get Your Vote On�? (GYVO) hosted 75 live events and had face-to-face contact with approx. 11,000 young people at 11 community hubs across BC. The May provincial election saw a staggering 172% increase in the number of young people registered to vote.
Number of 18-24 year olds registered to vote in BC:
- Sept, 2004 – 71,000
- April, 2005 – 193,000
