The Digital Dragon Boat Race Project

The Amusement game infrastructure allows MUSE partners to develop themed cultural treasure hunts or ‘crawls’ that will lead players on a footpath through the city, combining puzzles and quizzes with learning and play. Game players collect clues around the city, input answers through their cell phones, and receive responses that will lead them through a real life playground.


The Digital Dragon Boat Race

The Digital Dragon Boat Race (DDBR) is a competitive REAL game played on foot using wireless technology to discover 6 locations significant to the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival’s history in Chinatown and area.

Players or Teams (up to 4 people) with the fastest times collecting clues and discovering the locations will compete in the playoffs at Science World Saturday June 18/05. Game can be played anytime between May 29 and June 16, 2005

To play you need a cell phone with a mobile Internet browser. Most of the local carriers and cell phones in use today include everything you need to participate with even their most basic plans and phones.

The Digital Dragon Boat Race challenges teams to achieve the fastest time possible as they navigate a maze of clues leading them on a thrilling, culturally amplified, treasure hunt through Vancouver’s Chinatown and area. The Digital Dragon Boat Race is the first of its kind game experience in North America and will appeal to all levels of thrill seekers.
