Car Free Day 08

Fearless City & Mobile Muse at Car Free Day 2008

Car free day is the first event that Fealress participated in using the Mobile Muse platform. Two Nokia cell phones were used to stream live video footage. One mobile phone was attatched to a car and the other mobile phone to a bike. The two went along the same route around Vancouver. The footage was then streamed to live screens on Commercial Drive during the festival. The puropse was more to document the different experiences of cyclists and car drivers, to bring multiple block parties together somewhat, and to test the limits of the current technology.

The Fearless project is a two-way social media system for marginalized residents and artists of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). It is an interactive communication system that uses Mobile Muse 3’s technology platform, a free wireless mesh network, distribution and training with mobile handsets, and live screens in public spaces.
